Post A Quote Challenge Day 2

A huge thank you to ChubbyChicsDiary for nominating me for this! Check out her blog!

        • Post a quote a day for 3 days (can be your own or from other sources)
        • Nominate 3 bloggers to participate per post
        • Thank the person who nominated you

My quote today is rather a long one from the movie “Men in Black”.

Edwards: Why the big secret? People are smart. They can handle it.
Kay: A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it. Fifteen hundred years ago everybody knew the Earth was the center of the universe. Five hundred years ago, everybody knew the Earth was flat, and fifteen minutes ago, you knew that humans were alone on this planet. Imagine what you’ll know tomorrow.

-Men In Black (1999)

Post A Quote Challenge Day 1

A huge thank you to ChubbyChicsDiary for nominating me for another fun challenge. I somehow doubt mine will be very inspirational, as I prefer funny quotes… but here goes:

      • Post a quote a day for 3 days (can be your own or from other sources)
      • Nominate 3 bloggers to participate per post
      • Thank the person who nominated you
"you need to get the fuck out of Spain, because all the guys have little dicks and they'll fuck you in the ass before they can get your panties off" ~ Ava Gardner

“you need to get the fuck out of Spain, because all the guys have little dicks and they’ll fuck you in the ass before they can get your panties off” ~ Ava Gardner

My quote is from the late, immortal Ava Gardner and I could apply this to anything/anyone, if I really had to think about it. It’s a dog eat dog world:

“…you need to get the fuck out of Spain, because all the guys have little dicks and they’ll fuck you in the ass before they can get your panties off”

The Life of Kristyn

The 7 Deadly Sins of Makeup Tag!

photo from Kristyn's site

photo from Kristyn’s site

Kristyn had this on her blog and said anyone could do it- it looked fun. I’ve finally got a few minutes to breathe, so I am doing this- feel free to do this one, too!

1. GREED: What is your most inexpensive beauty item? What is your most expensive?
The most inexpensive beauty product is from wet n wild. I have a brow thing I bought and hate. My most expensive product would probably be Botox (or Latisse for the lashes and brows).

2. WRATH: What beauty products do you have a love/hate relationship with?

In the last few years- MASCARA. Suddenly, I am prone to raccoon eyes- I have no idea why, must be an aging thing. Am always searching for my holy grail mascara as a result.

3. GLUTTONY: What brand takes up most of your collection?
NYX lately- it used to be MAC before the baby arrived.

4. SLOTH: What beauty product do you neglect, due to laziness?
BLUSH! I rarely wear it.

5. PRIDE: What beauty product gives you the most self confidence?
Mascara and brow pencil, equally

6. LUST: Which Item is at the top of your beauty wishlist?

UD eyeshadow palettes- I don’t know why because I certainly do not need them.

7. ENVY: Which makeup item looks good on others, but not you?
Though I want to rock it, so far the square fronted brow is not doing it for me.

Anyone is free to do this! I can’t wait to see your answers!

The Beautiful Blogger Award x4

These awards are hard work! Filling out the questionnaires when you get nominated is harder than doing taxes… they just get longer and longer and longer… LOL!

I was nominated by the lovely Brianna at Online Beauty Finds! From what I understand, this is a combo of 4 awards that she consolidated. It’s taken me 2 days just to finish this post, btw.

The Rules:

  • State who nominated you
  • Answer questions given
  • Tell us 7 random facts
  • Nominate 10 beauty or fashion bloggers
  • Make up 10 questions for your nominees to answer
  • Let the bloggers know you nominated them!

1. What is your all-time favourite mascara?

IDK, I am still searching for my elusive holy grail of mascaras

2. How often do you wear makeup?

about once a week since the baby was born

3. What is your favourite thing about blogging?

I can have grown up conversations with myself

4. Name one beauty product that you wish you had.

Botox- I need it and haven’t had it since December

5. What shades of lipsticks do you wear most often?

sheer pinks and nudes

6. What is your favourite makeup trend?

That square front eyebrow

7. Blue or green eyeshadow?

8. What is your least favourite part of applying makeup?

since getting older, anything that requires details. After 40 your eye sight (up close) WILL suddenly just GO AWAY. It’s scary and frustrating!

9. Liquid or gel liner?

OMG I love gel liner

10. Do you wear falsies? If so, which are your favourite(s)?

Like tits or lashes? I have implants in the chest area already- and I like false lashes sometimes, but prefer lash extensions (the good ones, not the cheapos)

Random Facts:

1) I am currently waist training a la Kardashians and lost 5 inches in 2 weeks!

2) I hate editing my posts and checking for grammatical errors

3) eBay is wonderful

4) I miss wearing makeup on a daily basis

5) I am a makeup hoarder

6) It’s 3 am and I can barely see to type anymore, I’m sooo tired

7) I speak about a half dozen languages, all poorly

The Love/Hate Tag!

I was nominated for the Love/Hate Tag today by Claire Elsely and am still such a noob at this (and groggy from staying up all night with baby) that I had to search for what it meant lol!

I love lists and I love being tagged (my ocd bits enjoy listing and blogging things), so here goes:

List ten things you love and ten things you hate.
Nominate ten people to do the same.

  1. Family– Numero Uno.  Genealogy and DNA genealogy are also super faves of mine.
  2. FOOD – eating/cooking/food history/reading food blogs/recipes/going out to restaurants- you name it!
  3. The Internet – I’m not going to lie, I’m an Internet addict.
  4. Beauty Products – another lifelong thing…
  5. Reading – books, the Internet, other blogs, labels on cleaning products… whatever.  Yeah, I’m weird.
  6. Buying baby girl fashions– this one is a new thing.  Maisie is my first girl and I have long since lost interest in fashion for myself. I am surprised at how happy it makes me!
  7. When People Are Kind To Others– There is so much ugliness out there, I love seeing this in action.
  8. Honesty – I try to keep it real and respect it when others do too.
  9. Health Freakiness – I am not always healthy, but I am always ASPIRING to be.
  10. Gardening – I love growing my own food on my small city lot.  Working in the dirt is one of my favorite pastimes.

  1. Liars – no time for this bullsh*t
  2. Mean People– see reason ^^ above.
  3. Salmon – one of the few things I won’t eat
  4. A messy house – even though I am one of the most disorganized people I know, I detest it.
  5. Doing dishes – I am fine with cooking, but the washing up is another person’s job.
  6. Snow/Winter – I live in Michigan and am NOT a fan of our winters.
  7. Arrogance – falls under ‘no time for this bullsh*t’ comment
  8. Stress – Self-explanatory
  9. Chronic illnesses – I have some and dislike it.
  10. Diets – because it seems like I have been on one or another my entire life.

The Versatile Blogger Award

I was nominated for this today and I am such a noob blogger, it took me hours to figure out how to post about it.

I was nominated for this today and I am such a noob blogger, it took me hours to figure out how to post about it.

I have no idea how/why I’ve been nominated for awards in the last 2 days when my blog has only been ‘alive’ for about 4 days! It’s all very flattering and makes me feel like I may need to use spellcheck or edit sometime soon in my posts. I hate editing and spellchecking, by the way. I am also the type of person who picks apart OTHER PEOPLE’S writing mistakes unmercifully, so therein lies the conundrum.

I want to thank Lainey Loves Life for the awesome nomination for the Versatile Blogger Award (VBA)! Please check out and follow Lainey’s blog!  She is in Manila (which will interest all my Filipino cousins and friends who have accidentally stumbled upon this post), where my mom is also from!

Well, enough about me- here are the rules:

  •  Thank the person who gave you this award. That’s common courtesy.
  •  Include a link to their blog. That’s also common courtesy — if you can figure out how to do it.
  •  Next, select 15 blogs/bloggers that you’ve recently discovered or follow regularly. ( I would add, pick blogs or bloggers that are excellent!)
  •  Nominate those 15 bloggers for the Versatile Blogger Award — you might include a link to this site.
  •  Finally, tell the person who nominated you 7 things about yourself.

+ (written in the about section of VBA) When you consider nominating a fellow blogger for the Versatile Blogger Award, consider the quality of the writing, the uniqueness of the subjects covered, the level of love displayed in the words on the virtual page. Or, of course, the quality of the photographs and the level of love displayed in the taking of them. Honor those bloggers who bring something special to your life whether every day or only now and then.– – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – –

Ok, here are the things about Miss Maisie and Me:

1. I am the 46 yr. old mother of a 10 month old daughter who was conceived entirely out of the blue.  I am still (basically) in shock.

2. I eat with my hands- or a spoon and fork- whenever possible, even though I was not raised in the Philippines.  It makes teaching the children to ‘eat like Americans’ difficult.

3. My baby looks like a white version of my mother.  When I saw her 3D ultrasound face for the first time, I exclaimed:

4. My mother-who has early vascular dementia and still has a huge sense of humor/no filter- blurted out:
“Why does Maisie look like ME and her father?!  I DIDN’T F*CK HIM!!!”

5. I am obsessed with food, restaurants, food history, cooking, you name it…

6. I am so old that I have to stop myself from typing TWO SPACES after each “.” It is an old habit leftover from 1980s high school typing classes.

7. My baby, Maisie, will stop crying if I pull out a camera or my phone and take pics of her.  Instant POSING.  It’s been this way since her ULTRASOUNDS.  I am not exaggerating.
