3 am and I have insomnia. The kiddo has to be up tomorrow for her horse riding lesson since the Pandemic began and she is super excited.
When she went to bed, I finished the owl lamp she wanted so badly. I wasn’t going to pay 250 bucks for a resin one from a bit company. Instead, I picked up a small vintage bisque owl lamp from the 60s or 1970s and spray painted it in a copperish metallic; bought a 20 dollar burgundy shade from the grocery store and painted it with her initials in Gryffindor colors- and put it on her nightstand while she slept. She is going to be shocked when she wakes up!
SO frustrated- not by my weight, even though I’ve stayed around same for a couple of days- but by my COVID RECOVERY. My weight loss and skincare I am super pleased with… my tachycardia is improving, but not fast enough for my liking.
Tonight I made Filipino garlic fried rice with chicken and it was almost EXACTLY spot on- or maybe because it’s been too long since I’ve had rice, idk. Enjoyed food for first time in eons.
Tomorrow I will have shrimp something or other.
I was able to get my steps and cardio in. I need to get my strength training/yoga started… which I keep saying, but have yet to do.
RESTING HEART RATE:78 STILL, but it went lower tonight when I slept. 13,044 steps 51 min cardio yes!
11:10 am- 1st fueling: DRIZZLED BERRY CRISP BAR and coffee 2:15 pm- 2nd fueling: HONEY MUSTARD & ONION STICKS 5 pm- 3rd fueling: OMG THE CHOCOLATE PUDDING IS SOO GOOD!! 7:15 pm- 4th fueling: DECADENT CHOCOLATE BROWNIE with laughing cow lite 10 pm- Lean and Green meal: filipino garlic fried cauliflower rice w chicken (SO GOOD) 11:30 pm- 5th fueling: fell asleep ugh
Went down .2 of a pound and thrilled! My tachycardia is still here, but it seems to be lessening since I removed the NyQuil and CoQ10. I will add back the Ubiquinol to see if that wasn’t the culprit once my heart rate goes back to normal.
Been doing a lot of rebounding (albeit gently) on the leapsandrebounds.com rebounder (10% off with purchasing using code MISSMAISIE10). I also started a squat challenge. Getting my cardio done frequently with the rebounder helps my autoimmune problems, gets my FitBit steps in, and keeps me sane… it also lowers my heart rate.
Am in a reels making brush up course, so I made this while rebounding… I didn’t try very hard, but it’s a start LOL
NOW, ONTO THE STATS DU JOUR:
RESTING HEART RATE:80 (praying it is better tomorrow-stopped nyquil and a supplement) 14.263 steps 33 min cardio
10:30 am- 1st fueling: DRIZZLED CHOCOLATE FUDGE CRISP BAR 1:53 pm- 2nd fueling: DECADENT CHOCOLATE BROWNIE WITH LAUGHING COW LITE CHEESE (waffled) 4:00 pm- 3rd fueling: CREAMY DOUBLE PEANUT BUTTER CRISP BAR 7:00 pm- 4th fueling: SPINACH PESTO MAC & CHEESE 10:30 pm- Lean and Green meal: TRUFFLED CHICKEN SALAD WITH GARLIC VINAIGRETTE 10:45 pm- 5th fueling: couldn’t do it today. Still feeling covid-y and tachycardia-ish
I COULD NOT BELIEVE MY EYES THIS MORNING!! I AM DOWN TO 161!!!! This is INSANE!! BEST. DIET. EVER.
THE BAD NEWS: my resting heart rate is up to 78, which is what I worked so hard to remedy in the previous month with regular exercise. I added Ubiquinol (COQ10) and COVID to my life this week, so maybe that has something to do with it. I am not going to take the supplement tomorrow morning and see how my heart rate fares. I don’t think it is the Ubiquinol doing it- I think the 2 weeks of Nyquil may be partially to blame. The studies done on vitamin D3 and Ubiquinol as preventative treatments against long-Covid disorders are compelling:
I will also give up the NyQuil tonight, because it DOES have a history of raising the resting heart rate.
I forced myself on the rebounder throughout the day (and forced myself to eat) because that is usually the best way to lower my heart rate fast… and keep me moving when locked in the house. I also super-hydrated… and washed my face and did a L’BRI facial peel on a FB Live.
Maisie is feeling better, thank goodness, even if she looks feral in the next photo. My friend sent her a Laura Ingalls Wilder book via post and Maisie was over the moon.
Here is a pic of me from 2009 when I was 40- it is my new fridge goal pic. I want this body back and I will get it…
RESTING HEART RATE:78 (THIS IS NOT GOOD- COVID IS STUPID) 12,160 steps 54 min cardio
11:14am- 1st fueling: DRIZZLED BERRY CRISP BAR 1:53 pm- 2nd fueling: SOUR CREAM AND CHIVE POTATO CAKES waffled w reduced-fat cheddar 4:00 pm- 3rd fueling: HONEY MUSTARD STICKS 6:30 pm- 4th fueling: CREAMY DOUBLE PEANUT BUTTER CRISP BAR 8:45 pm- Lean and Green meal: chicken and veggies 10:45 pm- 5th fueling: CREAMY CHOCOLATE SHAKE
Up .2 of a pound this morning, but I am in covid recovery and this doesn’t even bother me. In the past, it might have sent me into a downward spiral, but no more.
This new eating program has changed so much about how gentle I am with myself and perceptions about weight loss- much in the same way L’BRI skincare changed my ideas about getting older and aging skin.
I feel very blessed to have both of these programs in my life now. I am SO grateful, beyond words!!
That being said, my heart rate is now 78 today- Covid has done some ugly things with my heart and tachycardia during my 3 bouts. It’s frustrating, but the only solution I have is to do more rebounding on my Leaps & Rebounds mini-trampoline. Cardio helps loads with reducing the resting heart rate and I try to get on EVERY HOUR for a few minutes. I use my FitBit to monitor my vitals and steps. 12k of steps is always my goal (for now). Lately, I have been barely getting 9k, so this must change.
If you want to get a rebounder from leapsandrebounds.com I have a lifetime 10 percent discount MISSMAISIE10 you can use. This company SAVED MY LIFE after my pulmonary embolism and previous Covid bouts and I cannot thank them enough.
RESTING HEART RATE:78 (noooooo!!) 11,307 steps 55 min cardio
12:00 pm- 1st fueling: CREAMY VANILLA SHAKE 4:00 pm- 2nd fueling: DRIZZLED CHOCOLATE FUDGE CRISP BAR (sooo late) 7:20 pm- 3rd fueling: CARAMEL MACCHIATO SHAKE (again, so late) 9:51 pm- 4th fueling: ZESTY LEMON CRISP BAR 11:50 pm- 5th fueling: fell asleep, work and illness kicking my butt
So, yeah, WOW. I AM SHOCKED by my pics and results. It is painful to post these, but in the interest of sheer honesty, it has to be done. I love this program and if you want to try it, too, msg me. I will hook you up with my coach.
Maisie woke us up this morning complaining of a sore throat and feeling worse. Gave her meds and tucked her back in with some hot peach tea and local raw honey. Poor baby.
R is also still feeling poorly, but his covid swab today was also negative. He can’t stop sleeping. Lots of mucus. I have no probs with the mucus, but everything else is wonky.
We left the house for prescriptions and supplies, but the pharmacy closed early. My blood thinners are gone and this is no bueno. I have to be at the drugstore at 9 am to pick them up tomorrow. It is dangerous for people like me with blood clotting disorders (Factor V Leiden in my case) and a history of pulmonary embolism to be off them. I am a lifer. I wore a mask.
I also did the 10 year challenge thingie on FB. I haven’t aged much, except for the white hair and extra 20 lbs left, thanks to L’BRI. I sell the stuff as well as use it and have since my 52nd birthday last year. It WORKS and bejamin buttons your face back in time. Get yours at linktr.ee/missmaisieandmewhile the January skincare sale is on. It is the best thing I’ve ever done for my skin and I’ve done A LOT. This actually WORKS.
Got some makeup on, just eyes and lips. I don’t wear makeup on my face anymore. I used to- I refuse to now. SOMEONE got some cute glam pics of me standing in dog pee. No, I didn’t eat the yellow snow.
Dinner was Ethiopian collards and cottage cheese, very spicy- but I am losing a bit of my sense of smell and some of my taste, I noticed tonight. Tests keep coming back negative, but this doesn’t bode well.
RESTING HEART RATE:71 (again, still sick. I am so frustrated X2) 13,021 steps 43 min cardio
10:30 am- 1st fueling: CREAMY DOUBLE PEANUT BUTTER CRISP BAR with a big cup of coffee 1:50 pm- 2nd fueling: DECADENT CHOCOLATE FUDGE CRISP BAR (OK, was late for my fueling ughhh) 4:30pm- 3rd fueling: DRIZZLED BERRY CRISP BAR 6:30pm- 4th fueling: CREAMY DOUBLE PEANUT BUTTER CRISP BAR (R grabbed a bar for me when we went to the store) 8:30 pm- Lean and Green meal: Ethiopian Ayib Be Gomen– Spicy collards with cottage cheese. SUPER filling. I missed the injera that would go with it (flat bread), but the spice helped my chills. 10:45 pm-5th fueling: coffee and couldn’t eat anything.
Woke with a HORRIFIC headache- it felt like someone was trying to remove my eyeballs with teaspoons. Maisie had a fever of 100F last night at bedtime. Probably Omicron OR maybe it’s the stupid solar flares. Wouldn’t be shocked. Stores are plum outta rapid tests around here. It’s like I have a hangover, without the benefit of drinking last night. Seems rather unfair, if you ask me.
Hot mess photo without makeup below:
Gained a bit of weight from naughty good luck NYE eating, but not worried. I am back on my horse today, firmly in the saddle with no guilt. That is so odd for me. I live for binge guilt and though I didn’t binge (I just had a meal), it is all the same thing in my twisted psyche.
Jumping back into this diet was SO EASY. I love it. Period.
Got my 12k steps on the rebounder and am planning Maisie’s Harry Potter surprise bedroom redo. I found some interesting pieces on Facebook Marketplace that I will be picking up soon:
Rowan the corgi is 6 mos old this week and spoiled rotten.
WEIGHT: 168.6 (you play, you pay… but I will be back down tomorrow)
RESTING HEART RATE:68 12,017 steps 42 min cardio
1:45 pm- 1st fueling: HOMESTYLE CHICKEN AND VEG FLAVORED SOUP (yeah, woke up super late) 3:45 pm- 2nd fueling: CINNAMON SWIRL CREAM CHEESE CAKE 5:45 pm- 3rd fueling: CHEESY BUTTERMILK MAC (doctored within an inch of its life, coz it is not my fave) 7:45 pm- 4th fueling: WILD STRAWBERRY SHAKE 9:45 pm- Lean and Green meal: Garlic rainbow cauliflower and paleo chicken sausages 11:45 pm-5th fueling: YOGURT BERRY BLAST SMOOTHIE OVER 100 OZ OF WATER
I know that the initial loss is almost always water weight, but it still makes me super happy-
I find it interesting that I quit daily weigh-ins back in April when I was already upset about my creeping weight.
My initial (small) weight loss goal is 160. My pre-Maisie weight is 133-140, which is my ultimate goal. At that size, I am generally a size 4/6. Any smaller and I look too thin… but I don’t even remember what ‘too thin’ is. I’ve always been a sturdy human, albeit a muscular one.
Until now I’ve just been getting steps by rebounding with a Leaps & Rebounds mini-trampoline. That thing saved my LIFE/our LIVES through Covid and pulmonary embolism and lupus autoimmune disease.
I have a lifetime discount from the company. If you’re interested in one use MISSMAISIE10 to get 10% off your order at leapsandrebounds.com.
Starting tomorrow, I hope to incorporate DDP yoga into the mix. I bought the program years ago, but it’s still a tried and true winner for me. I will also be going back to the gym to hit the weights by 1 January. I haven’t lifted in years and at my age, I need the muscle.
I need to remember to keep setting my alarms for the fuelings. I was late for my second one yesterday and it messed up my eating schedule. Having dinner at 11 pm is not ideal for me.
I am in a group where they told us to write a letter to our younger selves. I would have told myself to quit smoking, start working out daily, take vitamins, DRINK WATER, and WASH MY FACE 2x a day and BEFORE BED WITHOUT FAIL. I would have told myself to get my a** into therapy. I would have told her she was enough and stuff was going to work out AND TO ALWAYS GO FOR IT.
Today, the group asked what our younger selves would have replied. Mine would have been pretty shocked and happy, I think. She’d be a little upset that I got this heavy and had a chronic illness. She’s also be shocked with how I look, which is exactly how I envisioned and hoped I’d look when I was younger. I am almost 53 and didn’t expect to weather this well as a young’un.
I *do* represent the L’BRI company and it’s the secret to my oddly Benjamin Buttoning face. Check it out at linktr.ee/missmaisieandme. I was my face 2x a day and it keeps my head and neck from falling on the ground. Best skincare I’ve ever experienced in my ENTIRE LIFE.
Hell, I didn’t even know how to wash my face properly until my 52nd birthday when I tried it.
Now I want my body to match what’s going on from the neck up.
Wave of fatigue hit me around 9 pm. I am so sleepy, but have one more meal (the Lean and Green) to go. I also have steps that need doing. I think it’s time for a laydown.
OK, NOW FOR MY STATS OF THE DAY:
Day 4– 16,034 steps 1 hour 46 min cardio 80 oz or more of water
10:45 am- 1st fueling: CHOCOLATE MINT COOKIE CRISP BAR (kinda tastes like a Thin Mint Girl Scout cookie)
1:00 pm– 2nd fueling: DOUBLE PEANUT BUTTER BAR (will order again, so far my fave)
4:00 pm- 3rd fueling: JALAPENO CHEDDAR POPPERS (still not my fave, kinda like spicy cheetos, but I need to eat them up- won’t order them again. Some people adore them, just not my thing)
6:00 pm- 4th fueling: ROASTED GARLIC SMASHED POTATOES waffled with a pinch of reduced fat cheddar- WOW! MY FAVE FUELING SO FAR!! DEFINITELY re-ordering these next month.
8:45 pm- 5th fueling: SPINACH PESTO MAC AND CHEESE (my first time trying this one. Also required microwaving, like the penne.) VERDICT: NOT A FAN, EVEN WITH DOCTORING. I will eat it up, but never again. Gimme the penne every day. This tends to overboil in the microwave. I cook them in pyrex measuring cups, for convenience. I am leaning toward liking the savory hearty things best for flavor and the bars for convenience. I have only tried one of the shakes, mostly because I am sick to death of shakes after trying the 310 program (unsuccessfully).
10:45 pm- Lean and Green meal: Black truffle omelet with salad, avo, mushrooms (I needed to use up the other half of the avocado)
I’ve utterly ignored this blog for YEARS… opting instead for the ease of Instagram and staying on my FB pages and doing Influencer Things (which, I gotta say, is more work than it appears to be and kinda mind-numbing).
If you want quick look-sees on what we’ve been up to go to:
6. Moved into a smaller house in town in 2020 (originally, to quarantine in- now I just love it).
7. Adopted a kitten named Cake in 2020
8. Bought a new black 2 door hardtop Mini Cooper that I affectionately call “Roger”
9. Accidentally sampled an all natural skincare line on my 52nd birthday and somehow became an executive manager for this company after it made my face Benjamin Button back in time and managed my autoimmune skin.
It’s called L’BRI… do you even L’BRI, brah? Nobody’s heard of it, really, but it WORKED for me. I had no experience with this type of sales before… but I feel like the good faerie of skincare now. Life-changing- even if I don’t fall into the direct sales stereotype AT ALL.
10. Took up a market stall at a well-known local farmer’s market and began doing in-person readings with my long time friend and business partner, Gidget, over the summer called The Rowan and the Oak.
I know I rarely talk about my ‘real work’ since having Maisie- I took a few years off- but I have been a psychic and medium (large now, thanks to the Pandemic) for over 30 years. My other biz page is Psychic Jess Anderson.
11. Adopted a Pembroke Welsh Corgi pup named Rowan Magnus the Magnificent. He is a mischievous little Cancerian with a moon in Aquarius and lots of Leo.
12. Binged “Vikings” on Netflix.com and spent the entire winter 2020-21 sewing/designing/embroidering Viking and Medieval inspired wool and linen ‘Plague-wear” for the entire family (coz I am nerdy like that).
13. Maisie raised money and made her own monarch butterfly sanctuary in 2019
plus a MYRIAD OF OTHER THINGS too numerous to include here…
I’m back again and going to be blogging like a fiend, friends.
