Day 39-Over 50 and Weight Loss Diary- FRUSTRATION

LAST NIGHT:

3 am and I have insomnia. The kiddo has to be up tomorrow for her horse riding lesson since the Pandemic began and she is super excited.

When she went to bed, I finished the owl lamp she wanted so badly. I wasn’t going to pay 250 bucks for a resin one from a bit company. Instead, I picked up a small vintage bisque owl lamp from the 60s or 1970s and spray painted it in a copperish metallic; bought a 20 dollar burgundy shade from the grocery store and painted it with her initials in Gryffindor colors- and put it on her nightstand while she slept. She is going to be shocked when she wakes up!

THIS MORNING:

SO frustrated- not by my weight, even though I’ve stayed around same for a couple of days- but by my COVID RECOVERY. My weight loss and skincare I am super pleased with… my tachycardia is improving, but not fast enough for my liking.

Tonight I made Filipino garlic fried rice with chicken and it was almost EXACTLY spot on- or maybe because it’s been too long since I’ve had rice, idk. Enjoyed food for first time in eons.

Tomorrow I will have shrimp something or other.

I was able to get my steps and cardio in. I need to get my strength training/yoga started… which I keep saying, but have yet to do.

Day 30-Over 50 and Weight Loss Diary- 14 LBS LOST IN A MONTH!!

30 day results!!!!! 14 lbs GONE!

So, yeah, WOW. I AM SHOCKED by my pics and results. It is painful to post these, but in the interest of sheer honesty, it has to be done. I love this program and if you want to try it, too, msg me. I will hook you up with my coach.

Maisie woke us up this morning complaining of a sore throat and feeling worse. Gave her meds and tucked her back in with some hot peach tea and local raw honey. Poor baby.

R is also still feeling poorly, but his covid swab today was also negative. He can’t stop sleeping. Lots of mucus. I have no probs with the mucus, but everything else is wonky.

We left the house for prescriptions and supplies, but the pharmacy closed early. My blood thinners are gone and this is no bueno. I have to be at the drugstore at 9 am to pick them up tomorrow. It is dangerous for people like me with blood clotting disorders (Factor V Leiden in my case) and a history of pulmonary embolism to be off them. I am a lifer. I wore a mask.

I also did the 10 year challenge thingie on FB. I haven’t aged much, except for the white hair and extra 20 lbs left, thanks to L’BRI. I sell the stuff as well as use it and have since my 52nd birthday last year. It WORKS and bejamin buttons your face back in time. Get yours at linktr.ee/missmaisieandme while the January skincare sale is on. It is the best thing I’ve ever done for my skin and I’ve done A LOT. This actually WORKS.

Someday, I dream I will learn how to brush my damned hair.

Got some makeup on, just eyes and lips. I don’t wear makeup on my face anymore. I used to- I refuse to now. SOMEONE got some cute glam pics of me standing in dog pee. No, I didn’t eat the yellow snow.

Dinner was Ethiopian collards and cottage cheese, very spicy- but I am losing a bit of my sense of smell and some of my taste, I noticed tonight. Tests keep coming back negative, but this doesn’t bode well.

Day 30-

8:30 pm- Lean and Green meal: Ethiopian Ayib Be Gomen– Spicy collards with cottage cheese. SUPER filling. I missed the injera that would go with it (flat bread), but the spice helped my chills.

80 oz of water

Day 29-Over 50 and Weight Loss Diary- ALMOST A MONTH IN!!!

My favorite 64 oz Venture Pal water jug’s clasp died this week, so I ordered a gallon jug from Amazon (same brand). Probably a bit ambitious on my part, also it is harder to drink from, but will get used to it. I absolutely need to up my water intake, so hopefully this helps.

The kiddo’s velvet quilt and ONE SHAM came from Amazon. I couldn’t deal with the asymmetry, so I ordered another pair of shams straight away.

I am feeling less fit than yesterday. For someone without covid, this still feels a lot like covid lite. IDK what I have, honestly, but it’s kicking all of our asses in this house. R will rapid test again today.

I am dying to leave the house (with a mask) and do some shopping for tchotchkes for her bedroom redo. I have a ton of real work to do as well, but my headache seems to be preventing me from doing long jaunts on the computer and talking on the phone physically makes my brain hurt.

I wonder if this is my body forcing me to slow down. I normally work 10-16 hours a day and I am at a total standstill. It’s so frustrating. Even forcing myself to type this blog is WORK.

The diet itself seems to make me feel better for a bit. It’s definitely keeping me nourished, because I have zero appetite.

As an absolutely obsessed foodie, it is strange to have zero cravings. I don’t usually snack and I eat like a farmhand. Not anymore. These 6 small meals seem to take away all desire to even think about food. I love not obsessing over it. I love the freedom and how much the fuelings clear up my need to even wonder what I am going to eat. It takes all the work out of it for me- and the food addiction is GONE. I eat to live now and am happy doing it.

Rebounding is the number 1 priority for health today… and rest. I have a hard time allowing my body to rest and it’s been a tough love reminder, this illness.

BEFORE this diet, I would have to go to extreme measures (intermittent fasting, cleanses, keto) to get these types of results. In the last few years, even those habits bore no fruit nor weight loss. NOOM helped, but it was so food and app oriented, it took away a lot of time I needed to be present for work and home. This doesn’t do that. I probably will stick to this program for a long, long time- if not forever. Once I hit my goal weight- and I WILL- there is a maintenance plan. This is so worth it to me.

We are STILL SICK. I am so over this now. I need to call the doctor Monday.

Day 28-Over 50 and Weight Loss Diary- Harry Potter Bedroom Decorating Again…

I felt well enough to start working on Maisie’s bedroom again. The bed and most of it is in there, still need the lamp and furniture brought in, plus the closet cleaned.

Highlights/progress from the bedroom…

I am having the worst time trying to sort out how to drape the canopy hanging. It’s really difficult to do and I am not pleased with it at all. I will have R help me tomorrow.

I pushed myself way too hard today, got winded a lot. I am on the upswing, knock wood.

Weight loss stayed the same. I am not too concerned about it, as it’s been a tough week healthwise for us all. Covid test was negative, which was shocking considering the tons of covid-positive people we’ve been exposed to, knock wood. The molecular test came back tonight. I will be able to leave the house for shopping tomorrow (albeit with a mask). I need to finish up her bedroom.

Day 27-Over 50 and Weight Loss Diary- Covid Test Day and More Lethargy…

I was the only one to find a molecular test in my fam and had it today- now to wait 1-2 days until the results are in. I feel marginally better but SO TIRED. Sleeping off and on and rebounding is nearly impossible.

My appetite is gone, but plugging away with the fuelings. I lost .2 of a pound and that was nice.

R and Maisie were able to assemble the bookshelf. The bed arrived as well, but no energy to complete that task.

Best surprise was an Art Deco ring I designed and custom-made as a gift to me a month or so ago. It is 14k white gold, 2 ct center stone (H), and sapphires for Maisie’s birthstone. My mom wore a similar one all my life, but it was stolen along with her jewelry box full of family heirlooms when she went into nursing care. I am now making my own heirlooms to pass down to my daughter.

I had it made to look like an eye symbol, for good luck. Maisie wore it for a bit. I love it so much. I usually don’t splurge for myself (my mom always did, she lived at her jeweler’s), but I had a gut reaction regarding this ring. I am glad I did.

I am a little disappointed that I don’t even feel well enough to move a bit. I haven’t worked in a while and that is not my norm. I can barely focus on anything with the headaches that keep coming and going. Queasiness hit about 7 pm and I couldn’t think of anything I’d want to eat for my lean and green meal.

I eventually had a garlic soup with kale and sausages, which seemed to calm my tum down. I didn’t get the 5th fueling in.

Day 27-

7:00 pm- 4th fueling: HONEY MUSTARD & ONION STICKS

11:00 pm-5th fueling: I couldn’t eat.

Day 22-Over 50 and Weight Loss Diary- NYE Aftermath and Headache from Hell

Woke with a HORRIFIC headache- it felt like someone was trying to remove my eyeballs with teaspoons. Maisie had a fever of 100F last night at bedtime. Probably Omicron OR maybe it’s the stupid solar flares. Wouldn’t be shocked. Stores are plum outta rapid tests around here. It’s like I have a hangover, without the benefit of drinking last night. Seems rather unfair, if you ask me.

Hot mess photo without makeup below:

Gained a bit of weight from naughty good luck NYE eating, but not worried. I am back on my horse today, firmly in the saddle with no guilt. That is so odd for me. I live for binge guilt and though I didn’t binge (I just had a meal), it is all the same thing in my twisted psyche.

Jumping back into this diet was SO EASY. I love it. Period.

Got my 12k steps on the rebounder and am planning Maisie’s Harry Potter surprise bedroom redo.
I found some interesting pieces on Facebook Marketplace that I will be picking up soon:

side table with burl top
1930s dresser

Rowan the corgi is 6 mos old this week and spoiled rotten.

DAY 17- the day after Xmas Aftermath

What happens at Xmas stays at Xmas, but I didn’t successfully keep to plan. I ended up sick as a result and today is the day of reckoning and relaxation and self-forgiveness.

I have to be gentle with myself and move forward positively.

Spent the day enjoying the aftermath of the holiday and just chilling with fam. Maisie sang the Sorting Hat song from the Harry Potter audiobooks.

My house currently looks like Harry Potter threw up in it. The kiddo is OBSESSED. I am doing a surprise redecorating of her bedroom. Bought almost everything on here today (from Pottery Barn’s site).

Her bedroom is not as big as this in the little house, so we will do what we can… At my other house, this would be doable, but it’s currently being used as an office by family members staying there and working remotely. I like this little house so much. It’s so cozy.

Tonight’s lean and green consisted of sous vide grass-fed sirloin, veggies, and eggplant rollatini leftovers from Xmas eve at R’s parents.

Our Mid Century Modern Barstool Arrived! Dining Room Makeover (almost) Done!

I am so freaking happy!!!!!! The first (of two) Simpli Home Marana barstools arrived today. The other should be here on Saturday.

It took R about 10 minutes tops to put together and it is PERFECT and comfy.

I am absolutely in love with the mid century mod styling and the ability to adjust the height to regular chair height from bar height. It also swivels, too.

It’s also wide enough to accommodate larger bums, always a plus.

Best part, was only 127 bucks and had incredible reviews (no, I wasn’t solicited to do this review. I spent days trying to find the one I wanted online).

Maisie, of course, had to try it out immediately and finished her math lessons at the bar.

Cake the kitten tried his best to get in on the action, but failed miserably.

Bungalow Master Bedroom Redo

So far- still not done decorating

When we went into quarantine for covid in March, we moved ‘temporarily’ into my work bungalow and out of the big house. We converted it from a sparsely decorated work space into a home where we could safely be away from family members and not spread illness.

Since then, I’ve grown too fond of this little house and we’ve been living here full time. The rest of the (adult) family are blocks away at our main residence and we’re enjoying the quiet.

Links to items we used (thus far) in the redo can be found on my Amazon affiliate page: https://www.amazon.com/shop/missmaisiebabyfashionista?listId=3QXLSL8YMMTRA&ref=idea_share_inf but we purchased these on our own.

There were quite a few problems having to deal with this room to begin with:

1. Room is only 9’x14’, with the door next to the only wide wall available to fit the king sized bed.

2. Closet door and window on other available walls.

3. The remaining wall has no room for side tables.

The original wall color was a pale gray (as is most of the house). I wanted a warm white neutral wall. We went with Benjamin Moore’s White Dove OC-17.

We still have to finish the decorating/art/getting more furniture in, but I think it is a tremendous start!

The Novogratz bed is incredibly comfortable. I am pleased with the results thus far.

We will be changing out the overhead lighting to something more modern and adding a dimmer switch to the room as well.

Getting wall color up
